If anything, the 2013 Chanel Runway proves that chief Karl Lagerfeld must be getting into renewable energy.
For his Spring/Summer 2013 show in Paris Fashion Week, he filled the hall of the Grand Palais with humonguous wind turbines and a Chanel runway that looked to be made from solar panels. Models, dwarfed by the huge structures, walked past 13 wind turbines in all before reaching the end of the runway. The collection itself reflected back this airy theme, including a dress that looked to be made of tiny solar panels and a sweater knit with a wind turbine graphic.
Later, Lagerfeld told reporters that, “Energy is the most important thing in life… the rest comes later.” He also noted that, “If I had to build a house, I would put [the windmills] in the garden.”
