Chihuly Museum Collection: Environmental Art in St. Petersburg
Chihuly Museum Collection: The Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg hosts a stunning, permanent collection by world-renowned Chihuly in a magnificent 10,000 square foot setting designed by award-winning LEED architect Albert Alfonso. The Collection includes Chihuly’s spectacular large-scale installations such as Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier created specifically for the Collection along with several popular series works including Macchia, Ikebana, Niijima Floats, Persians and Tumbleweeds which have thrilled audiences around the globe.
Each space has been designed individually to complement each installation producing unique visual experiences. The presentation is the first installation of Chihuly art in a building designed specifically for that purpose using reclaimed 100 year-old heart pine from the Suwanee River and recycled glass.
The Collection is part of The Morean Arts Center commitment to innovative, community-oriented approach to art and art education. They offer classes and outreach programs designed to bring out the artist in all of us.
