December 24th’s Tip

Present wrapping: Christmas Eve! Many of us are still wrapping presents, or just starting present wrapping. Run out of wrapping paper? Don’t buy more! Use something more eco-friendly. There are a number of options to be creative and unique if you wrap gifts in something other than wrapping paper.

Fabric: Any fabric piece with a pattern / texture / color that you or the gift receiver likes will work great. You can wrap the gift like you are using paper, or you can make a bag out of the fabric and tie with a ribbon.
Shopping bags: Reusable shopping bags make great gift wrap because they can also be included as part of the gift.
Gifts: Certain types of gifts can be used to wrap other gifts. Scarves, for example, can be tied around other gifts. Use your imagination!
Old papers: Old papers such as maps or old work papers (think blueprints, etc.) can make neat wrapping paper, especially if it relates to something the gift receiver enjoys.

I always unpack my presents as careful as possible so I can use the paper again for next year. And holes or cuts I cover with ribbon :-)

Well,Thanks for sharing the tips that will help to keep our environment clean and obviously help to build a better and greener planet. Also the idea of using other materials rather than using some thing like wrapping paper which are eco-friendly is highly appreciated.

I’m so glad you mentioned the paper bag. We have a lot of old brown paper bags left over from years before when we used to bag our groceries with paper bags(now we have reusable bags!) and I figured instead of having to run to the store to get one extra roll of gift wrapping paper, I just used the brown paper bags like how we used to cover our textbooks in high school. It looked super cute and added a very unique look to the present. I also added a red bow too which really made it a nice touch. Great ideas!

I think that a velvet ribbon looks incredible on a present. I usually reuse the bags I receive during the year, but this Christmas i used fabric ribbons.

One of the ways to gift in artistic ways is to paint old papers with variety of colors using your imagination and wrapping the gift in it. It will also serve as a personalized gift.

People tend to extra wrap their gifts with attractive papers or plastics to make a joke of the person whom they are gifting, but I think they are making a joke of themselves and no of others. Your post is really a good one and may put some sense in this kind of people.

I like to engage my children to help me create our holiday (or any occasion!) gift wrap. Sometimes my husband brings home rolls of paper from the print shop he works at and I have the kids decorate it with crayons, stamps, and markers. The roll paper works best for wrapping presents, but sometimes we do it with just sheets of paper. The point is to reuse something that you already have or will be discarding and make it special by letting you children decorate it.

You can also wrap the gift in magazines but best option which I use is wrap the gift in the invitation cards. Use the outer paper of invitation car which has got good picture remove inner paper which has content on it.

My mother in law has taught me the same gift wrapping ideas. She has her own little draw with neatly packed newspapers or old wrapping that she uses for small gifts for her work friends or surprises for family. Its a great idea and looks neat.

And when you say ‘old paper’ you can actually even use recycled wrapping paper or bags.

I have a group of friends who get together to celebrate each others birthdays.. and we’ve made it a fun thing to get back an especially cool bag for our own birthday!

I do open my gifts carefully so I can keep the wrappers neatly and use it for my kids gifts next Christmas. Some wrappers from Christmas presents do not have Christmas designs on it and we use it too wrap gifts for any occasions the next year.

These are great tips. I love experimenting on gift wrappers. There was one time that I wrapped a present with newspaper and placed a recycled paper ribbon on it and everybody loved the presentation. I believe when wrapping presents this saying applies: ‘first impressions last’. That is why I make it a point to have my presents wrapped as special and as unique as I can.

Impressive suggestions on how to gift wrap a present with out using wrapping paper. There are surely lots of ways on how to wrap your gifts. You just have to use your imagination and the materials at hand. I love wrapping gifts. It is like I feel the excitement of those who are going to open it. Thanks for this post. Really loved it.
