July 9th’s Tip

Recycling Electronics: Whether you’re getting rid of an electronic device because it is broken, no longer works as it is supposed to, or simply because you’ve upgraded, there is no real reason to throw it away. If the device is only outdated, but still works, it can be given to someone who will have use for it, or sometimes even sold. If the device is broken, there is still hope for keeping it out of the landfill.

One option is to sell your electronics. You can do this through your local newspaper, a yard sale, or online through websites like eBay and craigslist. They can also be donated to local thrift stores or charities.

Used electronics can also be given away. If you know someone who likes to take things apart to fix them or just see how they work, still working or even broken electronics can be given to them. The newspaper and the free section of craigslist are a good option for these as well, or you can recycle them. Find a place to recycle them through Earth911.
