Eco-Friendly Friday

October 17th’s Tip

Shower Curtains: Most are made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). PVC has come under scrutiny for health concerns. When used for vinyl shower curtains and many other products, PVC offgasses harmful chemicals which can cause poor indoor air quality and health problems. These shower curtains are also easier to throw away when they become mildewy, and contribute to overflowing landfills because they do not break down.

What can you do? Next time you replace your shower curtains, try ones that aren’t vinyl. Use nylon liners instead of plastic ones, and get cloth or hemp outer shower curtains.
