This is the Indri bag, named after one of the largest living lemurs, an endangered animal native to Madagascar. This bag takes 35 plastic bottles that would have wound up in a landfill and puts them to good use – it’s made from them!
I have a 15″ MacBook Pro that I needed a carrying bag for, and after learning about GreenSmart™, I was happy to be able to review their product. GreenSmart™’s Bottles to Bags® products are all made from plastic bottles and named after endangered animals, plus 10% of the company’s profits are donated to non-profits to help create a “greensmart planet” in support of these animals.
I chose the Indri because I really liked the looks of the Kea, but it is too small for my computer – the Indri is the same style, just bigger. My Indri is blue, but if I could go back, I would probably choose black – the blue and gray just isn’t bright enough for my taste (and yes, I realize black isn’t bright! I just like my blue to be bright).
One problem I have with laptop backpacks that are large enough for my computer is that the shoulder straps are very wide, not padded enough, and just generally uncomfortable. The Indri is the first bag I’ve found that fits my shoulders well and doesn’t hurt, even with a good amount of weight in it. The outer pocket has some organization, with small pockets and pen holders, while the inner pocket is roomy enough for a few books. The laptop compartment is in the back, completely separate from the inner pocket, so there’s no need to worry about your computer being assaulted by anything else you’re carrying. Padding for the laptop is adequate.
