Nothing before has gotten my husband to want to clean, willingly, without complaining. That is, until we were offered a Steamboy T1 floor mop. As crazy as it sounds (and believe me, I stood stunned), the second he got home from work on the day the Steamboy arrived, he took it out of the package, set it up, and went to cleaning. Hey, I’m not complaining! I know something is fun and easy when he’ll clean with it!
Steamboy is a mop that uses water, just water, to clean and sanitize your floors. Put a washable microfiber pad (it comes with 2) on the mop, fill the canister with water, plug in, and mop away. The steam the unit creates not only gets rid of dirt, but it sanitizes with heat. It even has a demineralizing crystal water filter, which can be replaced when the time comes. Steamboy is safe for tiled and ceramic floors, as well as sealed hardwood. It can also be used on carpet with an attachment that is included, which surprised me! It is recommended to sweep or vacuum before using the Steamboy, to pick up any bulk dirt, but don’t worry! The Steamboy WILL find more dirt to clean up!
So I can’t give a personal experience review, since Andrew is the one who hogged Steamboy, but I did push it for a second to get a feel for it, and it is very easy to use. He used it in the dining room and hallway, which I had swept earlier, and it left the floors looking clean, with the washable microfiber pad looking… well… gross. I wouldn’t have realized the floor was that dirty, and it’s a little embarrassing, to be honest! He used the Steamboy on a small section of the area rug just to get an idea how it would work, and that small section came away looking more vibrant and newer than the rest of the rug.
So do I recommend the Steamboy? Highly. Why worry about what sort of chemicals are in your floor cleaning products (or even worry about buying them!) when you can clean as effectively, if not more so, with just water? The price of Steamboy is more than a mop, but you will save money in the long term, and maintain a healthier home. If you have young children or pets at home, a clean, chemical free floor and carpet is very important, since they may spend a lot of time close to it.
A note, though. Read the instructions carefully on your Steamboy. The microfiber pad gets very hot during cleaning, and it is recommended to let it cool off before removing it. Also, avoid using the Steamboy around small children and pets, as the steam may injure them.
