There are all kinds of ways to go green and just as many ways to help spread the green message. Some people choose to quietly live a green life and do what they can in their day to day lives. Other people stand on street corners shouting with bull horns trying to convince people to change their ways. The most effective method for enacting green change in our communities is probably somewhere in between these two extremes.

One really fun way to spread the idea of going green is to host an eco-friendly fundraiser. Most people that participate in some kind of organization, be it a nonprofit, a sports team, a school, or even a gardening club will do some sort of fundraising activities to help support the group financially. Now these groups have a fantastic opportunity in the form of green fundraising ideas.

The idea of a green fundraising program can encompass a lot of different products. Some common examples include selling reusable shopping bags, trees, flower bulbs, or organic foods to raise money. The idea is actually quite simple: if you are going to spend the time to raise money and you are going to be in contact with hundreds of potential customers, why not take the time to share a green message and present some products that can help them to green up their lives? For the most part, green fundraising products are not going to be ground breaking and are not going to require a drastic change on the part of the customer. Rather, they are simple and inexpensive items that help to make incremental changes and to change the mindset of the typical person, or at the very least make them stop to consider the impact they have on the planet as an individual.

If you belong to an organization that conducts fundraisers, I urge you to consider green fundraising ideas for your next program, and for the planet.
