Newman’s Own Organics, the King of Eco Snack Foods

In 1993, Nell Newman, daughter of Paul Newman, the founder of Newman’s Own, decided to take the family brand to a whole new level, an organic level. Nell strayed away from the sauces and salad dressings that Newman’s Own is known for and followed her sweet tooth. Cookies, chocolate bars, peanut butter cups and dried fruit are the organic face of Newman’s Own Organics. Nell wanted to create organic food that tasted good, but just happen to be organic.

Boy, did she blow it out of the park!

As my loyal readers know, I am a sucker for cookies, any kind of cookies! Organic or not, I have to have them. Honestly, I always thought organic cookies weren’t worth the calories since they lacked taste. Newman-O’s cookies are delicious! I love mint cookies, and Nell must love them too, because they have 2 different amazing scrumptious mint cookies. Hint O’ Mint Newman-O’s and Chocolate Double Mint Champions. I fed the peanut butter O’s to my boyfriend yesterday and haven’t seen the bag since.

Palm fruit oil is not hydrogenated, contains no trans-fatty acids, is lower in saturated fat than butter and has no cholesterol and is extracted from the palm’s fruit, not the palms kernel.

Newman’s Own Organics website does a great job of answering every challenging organic and fair trade question and it’s an interesting read. Click HERE for all your organic snack food questions.

If you are into the healthier side of snack foods, the dried fruits are a must. I keep a bag of the organic apples with me at all times. The mints are perfect for the on the go lifestyle as well, and I love the packaging.
