NL Architect's Bicycle Club Velodrome Roof

Holland have exported their bicycling enthusiasm to a Chinese rooftop. It turns out velodromes make perfect pagoda roofs. NL Architects came up with the concept for Bicycle Club – a cafe/ bike rental pavilion for a huge resort in Hainan province.

The velodrome covers the glass cafe below. The pagoda design provides shade from Hainan’s intense tropical climate. This structure follows NL Architect’s Basket Bar - a Utrecht restaurant whose transparent ceiling serves as basketball court.

Pretty sweet, no?
