Payless to Launch Eco-Friendly Shoe Line Early 2009

Payless ShoeSource is another company getting in on the green movement. The shoe store is launching a new line of eco-friendly women’s shoes in early 2009, with children’s and men’s lines to follow, and updated looks with every new shoe season. The first eight to twelve styles will initially be launched in a limited number of stores and in the online store.
Payless is working with environmentalist Summer Rayne Oakes on the new line, which will be made using materials such as organic cotton, linen, and hemp, and will feature recycled outsoles. The shoes will be produced on machines that use biodegradable glues and come in “eco-smart” packaging. They will cost, on average, less then $30 per pair.
