Those Northern Europeans are always ahead of the pack when it comes to minimalist planet friendly design. Here they go again, this time in Sweden with the Treehotel Eco-resort.
Designed to remove you from everyday hustle and bustle, the Treehotel envelopes you in serene unspoiled nature. It was inspired by the film ”The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augustsen – a tale of three men from the city who want to go back to their roots by building a tree house together.
Each treeroom is unique. They are suspended 4-6 meters above ground and all have spectacular views of the Lule River. There are 24 rooms planned and 5 currently existing with more to be completed by the end of the year.
The quirky themes include;
The Birds Nest
The Blue Cone
There is even a tree sauna for up to twelve people, perched among the centuries-old pines
Treehotel wants to have a hotel in the middle of nature, but on nature’s terms. So they have made a huge effort to minimise environmental impact. They build on live trees without damaging them in any way. They used Eco outdoor wood floor, which doesn´t contain any chemical substances. The wood is heated to over 200 degrees, which triggers their intrinsic resistance to protect against destruction. Electricity is supplied locally from green hydroelectric power. And the lighting consists of low-energy LED-systems. All cleaning products used are eco-friendly. Bathrooms have incinerating toilets and water-efficient sinks.
Release your inner child and take a vacation in a tree fort! What do you think?
